"The older you get, the better you get. Unless you're a banana"-Betty White
Midlife. Those 20ish years when we aren't young anymore, but we're not old either. Women will likely face relationship transitions, career pressure and caregiving responsibilities most during this time. All while going through puberty backwards (yay, perimenopause). Life changes have a habit of shifting our focus away from our own health and wellness while we're making sure everyone else is ok. Until the day we get the wake up call that it's time to start putting ourselves first again. There's a reason we're advised to put our own oxygen tank on first. Looking after ourselves isn't a selfish act, but we often push it to the side in our pursuit of helping others.
Many of the programs I've seen that are targeted at women in midlife appear to make an already hectic schedule even more hectic, and therefore an already pretty frazzled, time poor woman even more stressed. Taking care of your health doesn't have to be hard or all consuming. You don't have to change everything all at once to improve your energy levels, get better sleep or change your body composition. You can take one step at a time, taking the time to learn behavior changes that build on each other and lead to long term health and wellness. Often the smallest changes can be the most impactful for our health.
I'm a dietitian, nutritionist and health coach who works exclusively with women to support their health and wellness throughout midlife and guide them back on track. The approach I take targets specific lifestyle adjustments that will have the most impact in YOUR life. And always in a compassionate, humorous, judgement free and weight neutral environment.
